Yes biographies are a good idea. What are his interests? It's hard to say without knowing. Also, Bill Bryson's 'Down Under' is a good one. It's historical and very funny. I defy anyone to read his description of cricket and not laugh.

My DH isn't much of a reader either. But he quite likes Matthew Reilly and he did enjoy bear grylls autobiography mud sweat and tears. (I think that's what it's called).

DP hates reading! Will only read dirt bike mags or fishing mags but he read Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code and just loved them ! He found them really interesting and because of the action it kept him interested.

If not a book why not get him a magazine subscription?

Ask him what his favourite book was a kid, then he can read it to the kids

My DH is not a huge book reader but recently was recommend a book from his mate (and really enjoyed) called 'Marching Powder'. It is about an English drug trafficker who is caught out in Bolivia and jailed. The whole jail system is nothing else you would have read about. I have read the whole book as well and it is excellent!

He also enjoyed the Da Vinci code and I have heard the Ben Cousins memoir is really good.

What kind of magazines is he into? You might be able to get a book along the same lines eg if he's into biking magazines get him a motogp book etc.
I really like the suggestion of getting him a book to read to the kids too

Thanks for the suggestions. I have bought a kids book before and also magazines and he did say he wouldn't mind "trying" the reading so I thought since the kids suggested it I'd get a novel or something. Not into sports or music or anything so I can't think of any biographies... I might try and look for some of those novels that were recommended.
    Thanks everyone Keep them coming!

What about Billy Connolly's biography? It's a hoot, and everyone loves Billy!

I've just read through the list again and realised he does like Guns n Roses. So that's on the list too!
