    Default Nickname for Edward

We will probably call our boy Edward and then use a nickname, but I'm not sure which one I like best.
Just curious about people's thoughts on the main 'Edward' names. DO you think Edward is too old fashioned? Also, many people seem to associate it with Twilight, which I have neither read nor seen the movies. Is Twilight a bigger deal than I realise?
    Thanks

    Default Nickname for Edward

I think of Eddie, DH thinks of Ted or Teddy which I didn't even know we're nicknames for Edward. I really like Edward but I don't like these two nicknames which is why we didn't use it (I hate Eddie McGuire with a passion). I never made the Twilight connection, but then I've never see it nor read the books.

I've never read/seen the Twilight stuff but I do know that Edward is now part of pop culture because of those darn books.

As for nick names, I love Ned, and Teddy.

Eddie/eddy is the first nickname that comes to mind and yes everyone's first question will be 'oh did you get that from twilight/are you a twilight fan?'

I love the name Edward (and no not for the above reasons LOL)

The Twilight connection wouldn't occur to me either. But I guess it depends on how old you and your friends are. I'm sure once he's a bit older those films and books will be ancient history anyway.

I love the name, and also the name Ted or Ned.

Whenever I hear the name 'Bastian' I think of Neverending Story.

Harry or Hermione I think Harry Potter.

The same will always happen even in 30 years time, when I hear the name Edward, I'll think Twilight.

I think Edward is a nice name and quite like all the shortened versions. I wouldn't make the twilight connection, but the thing with names is that everyone will make a connection with a name and something they have seen/read/heard. And some of them will continuously and unhelpfully point it out. Theres not much you can do.

I have friends who called their baby Molly and if one more person says to them "I know a dog named molly" they're probably going to get headbutted.

If you guys like the name, thats all that matters.

    Default Nickname for Edward

We know a gorgeous little boy who's called Ted, and his full name is Edward. He never gets Edward, it's essentially just on his birth certificate. I love love love it, and would consider it myself if it weren't for them.
