Default Kind of spin off from the how much debt thread..

We have enough to get through Generally day before pay day though we have under $100 in our account.

If we didn't go out for meals / go shopping (dh is always buying new CDs & DVDs) then we'd have a lot more!!

After our rent, mortgage & bills come out we have about $800+ that's for groceries, petrol & play.

it depends. some would say we are just scraping by, but we feel comfortable. (no foxtel, dont buy magazines/snacks/avon/tupperware, shared 1 car until recently, dont buy gourmet food, etc)
we budget $50 each a week to fritter (DD ends up with 20 of that, with playcentre/shopping centre rides/treats when out)

We're doing fine, we have a fair bit in savings. Because I'm on maternity leave it's hard to put a figure on what we have left over each fortnight. I'm currently getting PPL, most of which is going into savings, but once that finishes and I'm back to just getting my 1/4 pay from work, not much will be going away.

We also put away a set amount each fortnight into DS's account.

DH wage pays the base bills ( not counting if something needed fixing or replacing etc) and I work casual. Whatever I earn is what we have left. So that's between $0-600. We are whittling a lot of our savings away with me not working permanent BUT we have just changed our lifestyle completely so that I can be home with my DD as I was extremely depressed working full time and it was badly affecting our life. As long as the bills are paid who cares?
