Tomorrow morning I am having my first wisom tooth extracted. My dentist won't do more than one at a time because of the risks involved with numbing the whole mouth. At first I just wanted him to pull them at the same time to get it over and done with (only getting my bottom ones removed because my top ones are through and don't get infected), but after thinking about it I am happy to get them done separately.
I suffer with anxiety though and lately its been ok, but as I am typing this even I am hyperventilating LOL... Ahhh I hate being like this but I can't help it... ASo right now I am short of breath, sick in the stomach, shaky and I can't even imagine how I will be in the morning... I go in at 9.30. My plan is to close my eyes until it is all over...
I know its just a tooth being pullede but I am SO SO SCARED!!! I would honestly rather give birth again(but thats cause I worked through my fears of labor lol)...
Help me feel better.. Please Please no horror stories or I will be charged a fee for not turning up to my appt in the morning![]()

I went to the dentist last week for the first time since 1999. Im terrified of dentists. It turned out to be an infection, but that my last two wisdom teeth were coming through also. The dentist said that they can take all 4 out like a surgery. Get put to sleep via IV and wake up with all 4 gone...still mass pain but get it all done at once.
I hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you. Best of luck!

Help me to be less scared
I am seriously scared of dentist. So much that I take a Valium before going! I understand your anxiety, that often happens to me the night before even a routine thing.
But.. Obviously it's a quick extraction for dentist to do in chair... They are much quicker than you think.
I also do things to help me breathe and relax in chair... Like take my headphones and listen to music on iPhone etc. I also like to reward myself with something after, like a new handbag or shoes etc!
Just think, this time tomorrow it will all be over! It will not be as bad or awful as your mind can imagine it to be. Seriously. I've had all wisdom teeth pulled and an extra one and I was like you the night before. And it wasn't as bad as I had let my mind imagine.
Good luck. You will be okay. Hugs to you. I know how nerve wracking it is.

Help me to be less scared
I found an awesome dentist that does dental work with me under sedation... So I go into a daze, nap a bit, and time flies by but it's done in the chair and not in hospital... And you aren't completely knocked out so it takes the fear of never waking up away too. I love it

I am so worried I will pass out in the chair lol.. Also I am scared he will lose the grip on the tooth and it will go in my wind pipe or something and I will choke to death.
I know how stupid it must sound but honest I am terrifiedI so wish I didn't have anxiety issues...

Help me to be less scared
I have never had a wisdom tooth removed but untill about a year ago had never had a tooth removed either!! I was pregnant at the time but that tooth had to go!! I had a massive infection under it an my whole face was swollen!!
It turned out I got myself all worked up over nothing!! It was pain free and I didn't feel a thing not even when they gave me the numbing needle!
I kept ontop of my pain mess afterwards so that I didn't have too much pain!! It was honestly the best thing I ever done as I was in sooo much pain from the tooth an hadnt slept in 2 days!! I was soo relieved!

You are not stupid! It's a valid fear to many of us.
Anxiety is so hard. I feel the same way and wish I didn't get it. It's so intangible. Probably nothing I say can help you, but know that your dentist does this all the time and make sure he/she knows how nervous you are. (my dentist will sometimes write a quick script for one Valium, send me to chemist next door to get it, I take and he sees me half hour later! It helps). But anyway... Trust they know what they're doing, let them know how nervous you are and therefore you can say stop so you can have a little break and then they can start again. And concentrate on breathing through your nose and even counting slow long deep breaths. That helps you relax and concentrate on other things.

I suffer from anxiety and going to the dentist was the worst possible thing.
I told my dentist all about it and he gave me Valium.
Lets just say I couldn't wait for my next appointment.
You should express your concerns to the dentist they can even give you gas to relax you (another great experience) or Valium.
I can't even imagine what my teeth would have been like if my denist didn't give me anything to relax there was no way in hell I was going to go through with it but a couple of pills later and I happily bounced in the chair.. Lol
