    Default Anyone not taking supplements?

I only took folic acid but then needed iron supplements at the end of the pregnancy due to low iron levels.

Wow, thought I was the only one, multis give me the runs too!!! I didnt figure out the connection until after having my second though, but now that I have figured it out, I dare say I'd be feeling like you - not to keen on having it. I'd prob just take the folic acid and iron as needed. :-)

I took folate, regularly, (they're quite cheap, don't remember how much exactly) asked dr to check my iron levels (blood test), was fine so I didn't take it.

They make me vomit so I stopped I tried a few different brands but made no difference so gave up. I wasn't getting any benefit from them anyway as they would just come back up later. As soon as I stopped taking them my ms stopped.

I too am only taking folic acid, Vit D and iron.
Struggled with the multivitamins for the first 8 weeks but they made me feel I'll every time I took them.

I eat a healthy balanced diet and have upped my calcium.

I did not take any supplements during my pregnancy, bub is 6 weeks old and in perfect health. I'm not a big believer in the need for supplementation, I think it's far better to focus on a healthy balanced diet. I had perfect iron levels throughout my pregnancy.

To quote Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory "Well, there's some value to taking a multi-vitamin but the human body can only absorb so much. What you're buying here are the ingredients for very expensive urine."

My doc said the same thing. Most important is the folic acid for now.

I am taking an extra large dose of folic acid and iron ( as am quite low). Our last pregnancy ended due to a very severe neural tube defect which is why I am on a larger dose of folic acid now, but the OB said that was all I really needed unless I wasn't having a balanced diet or if I was lacking in something.

I'm high risk and my pregnancies are planned like military operations and involve many types of doctors, the only thing I have ever taken is folic acid - was told all three times not to waste my time or money or other pregnancy vitamins . . .
