I haven't used any of those high chairs but I did face a similar problem as we have a square bar table as our dining table. I was looking around for a tall high chair when my cousin gave me a portable booster seat. I thought I would use it until I found a suitable high chair but I fell in live with it and so didn't end up buying a high chair. It straps onto a chair (in my case a bar stool) and has a removable tray with insert. Both tray and insert can be washed in the dishwasher. I also love it because I don't need to find extra room for a high chair and it can be easily removed and put away when we have guests for dinner. I spotted one in a baby shop in Sydney and I seem to remember it being about $60. The one I have is a fisher price

i'm too scared to use one that hooks onto the bench, and everything i've googled about putting a booster on the barstool says it's dangerous.
knowing my luck.....
my son's friend (8yo) managed to tip over our barstool even though they are quite heavy and wide based.
