    Default Thoughts on this please..

You go out grocery shopping with someone and spend about $95 on food, the person you are with pick up a few items totaling around $10. The supermarket is running a promo 'spend $100, get $10 off'.
You are paying separately and go through first - again your bill is around $95. The person you are with then buys their stuff, as you are loading your trolley you overhear them whisper to the checkout person 'put the bill together so we get the $10 off' - which the checkout person does. Thus the person then receives the full discount, making their purchases almost free. They never ask you first, or even mention they did this.

    Thoughts? Feelings?

Reminds me of people who 'offer' to pay a group meal on their credit cards and collect money from everyone - naturally everyone gives notes and the total bill is rounded up, thus giving that person a free meal.

    Opportunist.

The fact that they whispered is what makes it scummy.

If it was a friend or family member I wouldn't care - I would probably suggest it! If it was a stranger I'd be annoyed

    Yep this.
It would be weird if it was a stranger but it would be my good deed for the day... Lol

It was family but they never asked me which is why it bothers me. I find it very underhanded - it's not the money, it's the sneaking behind my back and using me to get free groceries.
They often do selfish things like this....

If they had asked i would have said 'sure, no worries' and wouldn't have cared, but whispering when they think i can't hear - rude imo.

Meh I wouldn't care, its not like it made my groceries cost anymore... it's only $10... I really don't think I would worry about it. TBH when I am with someone and I am grocery shopping and they have a few things I normally just get them to chuck it onto my shop (obviously as long as its under or around $10-$15).

    This.
I'd probably say something to them, that I was shocked they felt they couldn't ask me.
