    Default To amnio or not

So we're in a bit of a pickle. We got our results for our 12 week scan yesterday and I was totally unprepared as I didn't even consider there being a problem after the scan looked so good but we came out on the borderline of high. 1:332.
We have been offered a FMU appointment and an amnio as I am past the point of CVS being safe but we are stuck. We had always said we would terminate if baby had a significant genetic condition including downs but the risk is still relatively small. I think DP wants to have it done and if he decides he feels strongly enough we will. I am undecided, I guess I just don't want to stress over nothing.
Any experience or advice would be nice. We would have a 10 day wait until I'm 15 weeks anyway but this waiting sucks.

Thanks for your honest replies. I think it has been just suck a massive shock, I'm 25 and my ultrasound was perfect with a nt of 2.0mm.

I got my results the other day I and I got 1:38 I will be doing mine. But I don't know if I would with those results.

It was my ultra sound that picked it up. It was 4mm

I wouldn't (and haven't) at that risk level. Mine came back at 1:255 and we haven't had one. In general the risk of a problem from an amnio still outweighs the risk of a DS baby at that point.
My OB also said that in her experience a normal nuchal fold measurement is far more accurate than the bloods.
Do you know if it was the papp-a or the free-hcg that was the issue?

I had an amnio to see if dd had ds.
I would have gone nuts wondering the whole time if the baby had ds or not. Although the waiting for the results to come in was horrible. But it is something that I would do again if I had to. I was 25 at the time.

It seems risk is quite low still. Only you and your partner can really make the decision.
If it impacts the rest of your pregnancy or the choices you would make then maybe?
I've recently been pushed to have an amnio myself but we decided it wouldn't change the outcome, no matter what we were and are continuing with the pregnancy. That's a personal choice. But if you think it will help ease your minds or make a big difference then it's definitely something to consider. Good luck, it's so devastating and heart breaking to wrestle with decisions like this when you should be celebrating your pregnancy. Hugs.

I would, I just feel like I have to know these things. Since you guys have decided to terminate if it has a significant genetic condition anyway, it's clearly important to you, and you're already stressed about the wait.

Up to you, of course, but I couldn't stand the stress of not knowing.
