Default Open and closed system breast pumps

Okay so I'd heard the medela swing was good but then I heard it's an open system breast pump. I didn't know what this was and then found out there were open and closed styles. From what I can gather, the open system ones can get mould in them and are more susceptible to bacteria than a closed system: is that correct?????

Can anyone recommend a good electric pump? Preferably closed I guess as the open system freaks me out now..

My Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump was the same price as the Swing. It's fantastic.

Interestingly medela is no longer a friend of the aba due to a marketing issue. Their pumps also dont comply with the WHO codes and they make no apologies for it either.

Hi, just wondering what are the WHO codes and which parts don't they comply with?

I know you were looking for an electric one but i got a avent manual and have not had any problems with it. everything is washed so no worries about mould etc and i got so much more milk out with it then with the hospital medela one.

good luck deciding its such an individual thing
