I never used to. Then when she was about 2.5 I started to let her have a snack on the way home from playgroup (sandwich).

OB long trips we all stop for a feed

Next time I'm in the car and they are screaming for food I'll call you and you can ask them, okay?

Our car is new so at first i said no way. But we regularly have long drives so it isn't practical to stop all the time (or I can't be bothered))

Yes but only the last few months and only food that won't make a mess! So usually an apple or mini rice cakes if we are driving longer than 30 mins as he is always hungry!

No matter where they eat they make a mess...whether its the car, the couch, the table. I take frequent glances to make sure everyones ok. Never had an issue.

I prefer mess then the "I'm staaaaaaaaarvvvvvvvvvvvvving" all the way to where we are going

Omg that must have been so scary for you!! Glad he was ok, clever you getting it out in time!

AFM we used to let them eat in the car cos it was that or go insane with frequent stops and/or screaming kids. I recent banned car-food cos of the mess, but was always a but worried about choking, as pp's have said we chose food carefully, esp as dd1 kinda choked/breathed in some apple as toddler.

I wouldn't be embarrassed LoCo, its a valid concern

She's not a toddler, but when she was she never really ate in cars unless it was a really long trip (normally then she'd sleep anyway).

She's 7 now, and DP says she can't eat in there... but I just apply that when he's in there too. I let her eat in there... even if she does make a mess. Who cares? It's just a car, it saves time, and it's not like I can't vaccuum (and it's got a cover anyway so I can just pull that off and wash it if need be).
