We are currently using Nan H.A Gold 1 formula for Leila, and she is approaching the 6 month mark which is when they say to swap them over to the 6 month Nan H.A Gold 2 formula.
I have been trying to research this and find out what the differences in formula are, but only noticed minor differences in nutrients with the extremely limited information I have found.... So I have a few questions....
Is there any reason to change?
Is there any thing that I should consider when thinking about changing?
Would it be okay if I just kept her on the stage 1 until we're ready to wean at around 12 months?
Some have mentioned that the stage 2 has less nutrients for bubs, because at that stage they should be getting nutrients from solids... Is this true..?
Leila has started (and is loving) her solids, so we are going really well with all of that side of things, just wondering about the actual *need* for a change to the 6 month + formula or if this is, in fact, just a whole big marketing ploy to suck consumers in....?!?!?!

Is follow on formula necessary?

Nope, don't need to change at all. Bubs will still get what they need, plus the extra nutrition from the solids (if you are) from you. Also, don't bother with the toddler stage 3 tins, what a waste and gimmick!
(MCHN & DF told me this info btw)

I never bothered with Stage 2 formula - used Nan HA until DD was 12 months old and then gradually swapped to plain cows milk.

I agree with the PP's we tried follow on but I made DS vomit so we went back to stage one until he was old enough for cows milk. I checked with the mhcn and she said it was fine.

I swapped and it made DDs reflux worse! Went back to 1. She's 11 months now and will ween her onto cows milk soon.
