Default What NOT to buy a newborn

I have a few friends due for babies soon, so I thought it would be interesting to see what other mums considered 'good' and 'bad' presents they received!

For me, I'll NEVER buy a teddy bear again - DS has literally over 20, they are such a waste of space on shelves and he'll never play with that many.

I wish I had of received more 'every day' outfits, rather than 'going out' clothes in size 000 - didn't use even half of them. Basics like rompers and singlets etc are much more practical (although not as exciting I know).

Agree on the clothes. We got given some cute outfits that DD wore once or twice before she grew out of them! I much prefer the bonds suits for the first few months. So much easier than trying to dress them in clothes!!

But we were lucky really. We didn't get many gifts that weren't useful.

Absolutely loved and appreciated the gestures, but ended up with about 4 'newborn' albums (the ones with spaces for all their birth information, lock of hair etc.).

Most useful gift was a little toiletries case with stuff for the baby like thermometer, nail clippers, snot sucker ....there were a couple other things but I forget now.

I agree with you going out outfits are such a waste for little babies.
    Same with soft toys.
Or blankets I swear I must have 50 blankets.

I would have appreciated if someone turned up with a box of huggies in larger sizes, jump suits, socks (you can never have enough i keep losing them).
    A target gift card rocks!
I know it's not "present" type stuff but seriously how many photo frames does a person need.
A coffee machine... Lol hell I would have settled for a take away latte!

Agree on soft toys. I also received about 20 baby hair brushes for some reason. Bit ironic considering my Bub had hardly any hair for at least the first 18 months haha.

Soft toys and socks for newborns/000! My baby was in rompers for most of the time the first few months so hardly ever needed socks.
