Default What are Braxton hicks like?

It's probably been asked a million times I apologize but what do they feel like?

I'm 28 weeks almost and a friend who's been pregnant before told me hers were painful and asked if I'd felt them yet. I've had crampy feelings but nothing at all painful.. I heard that most don't feel it til later in pregnancy?

    Are they common?

Yes they are very common. It is just a tightening in your uterus, it can vary in degree and ou will get them more towards the end of he day when tired. They an be painfull, mine sure are but that is a sign to have ourself check to just make sure all is fine. Mine makes it hard to breath normaly, i feel like i am going to wet my pants if i dont stop moving. They start for me, from the bottom and peak to the top o my uterus. Someladies even report hat they never had them.

I'm pregnant with my 2nd and this time they started around 28 weeks. I can't remember when with my 1st. I just get a tightening feeling across the top of my uterus and I can see my belly going all pointy. Looks really weird! Doesn't hurt, just uncomfortable. Initially only got them late arvo but they've picked up the pace a bit now I'm 37 weeks. They're now very strong and leave me feeling a bit tight in my chest and throat which is a bit weird. I'm taking raspberry leaf tea tablets which possibly is making them stronger.

Everyone, and every pregnancy is different. With DS, it was like very, very strong period pain. They often used to make me catch my breath and have to stop for a minute if I was standing.

With DD (2nd baby) it's was more like tightenings. My whole belly would go rock hard and then release. Just like if you were clenching a muscle and then let it go. They weren't as painful, but would last longer.

I've had to babies and I had no Braxton hicks with my 1st and with my 2nd I just felt tightening and a mild cramping but wasn't painful at all. Everyone is different.

Mine started as a tight uncomfortable feeling and my belly would go rock hard but now they have started to feel like really really intense period pain.
