    Default 1st bday present?

My best friend's nephew is having his first birthday party this weekend. Her sister/brother in law are fairly well off AND have lots of friends so she's finding it hard to sort out a gift for the little fellow!

What do you get a 1 year old boy who has it all and is likely to get even more cool stuff from others this weekend???

MegaBloks - first builders blocks (the ones for age 1 - 5). You can never have too many building blocks.

    Or playdough.

Or books - board books with bits to touch/feel like 'wool' on the sheep, 'hair' on the child, etc.

Some presents at a few parties I've been to recently are: a
    A little teepee,
A small tent (from a toy store)
A book that you can record your voice narrating the story - everyone loved this- parents and kids,
    One of those dimply balls,
    Building blocks,
Name puzzle (although if party is this weekend it's probably too late to get one made).

I'm sure whatever your friend gets will be fine - if the birthday child is anything like my DS, they'll be more enthralled with the wrapping paper or boxes :-)

I thought about the blocks as DS has them but he's 16 months and still barely touches them! Anyway, I ended up suggesting a nice set of crayons and an art folder...she seemed to really like that idea. Thanks for all the suggestions
