I have someone in my life who thinks no one can dare whinge about their problems because she has some fairly bad circumstances.

But really, our problems are big to us and while sometimes perspective may be necessary, most days a handless, starving, raped and ostracized woman who has watched her children be murdered or starve to death living in Africa is always going to 'win' that one and if that means we can't be upset about our lot in life, then that's really unhealthy to suppress. It's all how relative it is to our personal situation.

Although, I do think often people think they're being helpful by letting people know they're not alone and just overstep the mark, coming off as insensitive.

I also consider myself a happy, supportive person but like you and a few others have gone thru the worst month of my life. I probably seem needy and depressed, especially in my ttc after m/c group.

I know the OP is saying she is referring to IRL, but really, the forum is an extension of real life. I certainly don't mean to come across I have it worse than others. Thankfully I have some really supportive people in my life atm

I totally agree with this. I notice this especially in my mothers group. I don't even tell my story as I know I've had a hard upbringing and don't need anyone to confirm that. I just listen and nod sympathetically. I think some people just want to be heard and appreciated.

Oh no you don't!!! Stop that kind of thinking now!

Nobody on this forum should think they are stupid or anything like that when posting in here for support.
