    Default Hermit Crab lighting

Need some help regarding hermit crabs.

DD got 2 today and we have them all set up in the lounge with a lamp over them to keep them warm.

My problem is my bedroom is opposite the lounge and the lamp is bright enough to light up my room and I can't sleep unless it's dark.

Can I turn the lamp off over night or does it stay on 24/7? We're in Melbourne so it does get cold here at night and I don't want them to die.

ATM they are both asleep (I'm assuming) directly under the lamp after a very active afternoon.

Any advice? I want darkness and usually sleep with my door open for the dog and cat to come and go as well as DD later in the night (whole other thread haha).

    TIA.

We have hermit crabs with no light. We have a heat pad now but didn't for a month. We just covered the plastic tank with a flannelette pillowcase
