One of my close friends has called me this morning and told me that her daughter who is having her 4th birthday party this Saturday has a cold sore coming up and that its up to us if we still come.
I have a 1 and 4 year old and am not too worried... should I be? Would you be?
My friend is informing everyone, the party was mostly going to be adults too.
I don't know if it makes any difference but my husband carries the virus but hasn't had a cold sore since his teenage years and I'm not sure if I carry it or not.
Would you stay away?

I would. My DD got the cold sore infection at 15 months and was very unwell. The initial infection in little ones can get to the point of hospitilisation, or worse. DD didn't eat or drink anything for a full week (we were lucky she took formula so she was on that as often as we could get her to drink it) and lost a bit of weight. So I'd definitely give it a miss, or make sure no hugging/kissing other people.
