- Home, where my life lies waiting, silently, for me.
we had 3 weddings, 2 with 'wishing wells' (dh is chinese and they give ang pow, rather than presents anyway, so it wasnt exactly a planned thing.)
our aussie 'official' wedding was 90 people and we recieved around 4k. (wedding and accomodation cost about that amount)
our chinese 'offical' wedding was 20 people (family only) and we broke even (we give ang pow to lower ranked family, but recieve from higher ranked family)
our chinese dinner was 200 people and we ended up paying for the entire (8 courses) dinner and having a 3week holiday in Thailand/vietnam including spending money, plus gifts from the ang pow.

We had about 70 people and got just over $3000. We brought an old caravan did a little renovating on it and can now have a mini holiday whenever we like!

Let me just pick my jaw up off the ground!! 22K!! I should have found myself a european boy!!
We're getting married in just over six weeks and are having a wishing well for those that wish to participate. We plan on using it as spending money for the honeymoon and put any extra towards putting air con in our house. I guess it all depends how generous everyone is

We had a wishing well and received about $5000. We had 50 guests. DH's family were extremely generous!
We paid for the entire wedding ourselves so we just put it back into our savings
