No the child started showing symptoms on Wednesday and was diagnosed later that day. The infectious period is apparently 9 days after symptoms start and 8 days before hand

Oh no! I'd be freaking out too. I had a friend do that too. Her kids had whooping cough and she didn't tell me! I even had my young baby around her and her kids. Her attitude was that my kids are vaccinated so I should be confident they won't get it.. and according to her,.whooping cough isn't that dangerous anyways.. hmm.. lucky the kids didn't catch it! Obviously the vax worked for us.
Hopefully your friends child is past the contagious stage or has recovered. Try not to panic over it either as it won't help.
    Hopefully in your case

The friend who bought child over is now ignoring me and blocked me on fb. This is after I sent PM asking if her child is still infectious. Guess I got my answer.
Means I now will be a responsible parent and keep my child at home just in case so I don't spread it if heh as caught it. God I hate irresponsible people! If your child is sick, then let me know and let me make the decision whether I want to see you! Don't take that decision out of my hands

She blocked you? Wow, that's strange - guess that ends the friendship.

Totally appalling behavior. I hope your little one is okay.

Wow thats not ok!! You have every right to be angry if she knew

I had this happen when a neighbour sent her kids to my house as she wanted 'quiet time'...
    they had foot and mouth!

I would be upset that she didn't tell me straight up. Had she told me, I would have asked her to come back some other time. BUT if she told me after the kids already were playing together, it would be "too late" anyway and I would just let it go.

If your DS is vaccinated, there really isn't a need to keep him at home as he wont spread something he did not catch.
I mean, keep him home at all means, but if you need to go out for a good reason or emergency, I wouldn't worry too much about him being contagious.

It's sad as I know a lot of parents that do this. Ranging from colds to conjunctivitis to gastro! I can't believe that people would be so selfish and irresponsible. My MIL was around our kids with whopping cough because the dr didn't tell her it could have been that!!! She wore a face mask everywhere just so they didn't get the "cold" he rang 3 days after being there saying his suspicion was confirmed. Luckily they were ok but what a stupid dr
