I was at a friends yesterday and she wanted to hold my DD. She reached for my DD and then despondently said "oh she doesn't reach for you yet".
My DD is 5 months old. Should she be doing this yet? I have no idea and I was a bit hurt by my friends tone
DD has in the last 3-4 days started flailing her arms about like a helicopter

DD reaches for me but she certainly wouldn't reach for my friends, or anyone else!! I think that might have been the problem.
Can't help you with the when I'm afraid, I can't remember when DD started to do that. But she's almost 7m.

DD started reaching for me at about 8 or 9 months I think. Don't worry, your bub is still so young!

DS2 started around 6 months but only for DH or I. Certainly not anybody else.
I think your friend might be a bit confused about age expectations.

Dd started reaching for me around 6 months and for DH maybe a few weeks after that. She's only just started reaching for other ppl at 9 months but thats only if shes really comfortable with them! She luurrrvs my mum and dad so will actually reach for them over me lol.. But put her near DH's parents and she'll turn the other way.Dont worry about your friend, sounds like she has no idea!

Don't worry. My DS is 7 1/2 months and he doesn't reach for any of us. Doesn't even look like he will soon either.

I think it is supposed to be by 12 months so I wouldn't worry just yet.

Remember: every baby is different : ) I went to a PND support group and there was a baby girl who was 6 months old, feeding herself. DS didn't feed himself until he was 11 months old.
