    Default Facebook's new Announce feature

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed the "announce" feature that facebook has introduced where you can pay facebook to have your post "announced" to all your friends and appear at the top of their newsfeed?

I'm wondering if its the beginning of user pays for facebook where one day they'll have us all paying to post.

Would you use it? Have you noticed anyone making announcements yet? I'm really curious whether there's actually a market for it. I can't think of anything that would motivate me to give facebook money.

I didn't know you had to pay for that. Weird. I wouldn't do it. It would make you look like a bit of a show off wouldn't it?

I've used it but I wasn't asked to pay?

I don't think you'll ever have to pay to make a post- no one would use it, and someone would just make a free version (like google plus) that we'd use if they tried. They make masses of money as it is.

It doesn't show that you announced something. In my case I was posting a link to a friends new business page, not showing off

That's ok then I don't think announcing things is showing off, I was just thinking if it was obvious you paid to have your post first it would be.

A friend of mine did it to test it out. He said he paid $1.30 for it, and it showed up in my news feed with 'announcement' in pale writing next to the like and comment bit. That's how I found out about it. I hadn't even noticed it before that.

Is it different to the 'highlight' feature?

I've never seen an 'announce' feature or any posts with 'announcement' written next to it.
I did notice a new 'highlight' tab under my posts so i clicked to see what it was and it claimed it was free and would make my post more visible to friends - i didn't bother doing it though.

Maybe its just being trialled at the moment, and so the details keep changing? Just googled it and it seems some people have had it offered for free, and some people have seen it as highlight, and some as announce.

I would perhaps use it for important things like a congratulations to friends on the birth of their bub (after being given the ok!) or a wedding congrats etc. I wouldn't do it if it was anything else though.
