Default Calling all cake makers! I need your help

I'm making a birthday cake for my Grans 80th Birthday this weekend. I have decided to do a chocolate cake however when I last made it I felt it needed something in the middle. So I will do 2 layers of chocolate cake with some sort of filling in the middle. But the question is what should be in the middle? More icing? Cream? Ganache (however its spelt)?
    I have no idea!

Ganache - or if you don't want it too rich I put fresh whipped cream and thin sliced strawberries in the middle.
