I had bleeding at 5 & 1/2 weeks (brown spotting which turned to fresh red blood, not too heavy, but constant) and also the same as you... GP said my cervix was closed. I had dull period type pain that night, then the bleeding turned to old blood, but was still constant. I had another fresh bleed a week later, with period pain again, and had to wait until 7 weeks for a scan to confirm a heartbeat. Bubs had a heartbeat and my bleeding was called a threatened miscarriage. I continued to bleed and had further scans to verify a heartbeat at 9 weeks and at the 13 week NT scan they could finally see I had a subchioronic hemorhage. It was a bleed between the placenta and uterus wall and the docs said it is quite common and should resolve itself. It is a very scary situation - I thought I had definitely miscarried too, and we also lost our first baby at 37 weeks, so I was very stressed. Well, it did resolve - 10 weeks after the bleeding started, it finally stopped (although I was having up to 3 fresh bleeds a day towards the end!) and I am now 26 weeks pregnant. Bubs is measuring over 2 weeks ahead of his gestational age, so the bleeding didn't affect him at all. Hope this helps and gives you hope it will all work out. Good luck!!
