I find them cold and impersonal, I guess because I really prefer dealing directly with people. I would go so far as saying I find their presence a bit depressing. I'm a people person.

I always think it will be faster but it never is. I'm such a moron at it. I will do it for a basket, though. DS gets a real kick out of scanning his tic tacs or whatnot

depends if Im in a rush. Im quicker than a checkout person (99% of the time) but if theres lots of heavy stuff, and I have the time to wait, Ill use the staffed checkouts.

I don't like them because people are losing jobs or hours because of them but I have used them.

I don't boycott them because I know that Wont change anything unfortunately. Plus when they break down it means more jobs for the company who fixes them

I worked as a cashier at Toys R Us a very long while back, and to be honest, if the self serve existed, it certainly would of taken alot of the heat off during the busy peak times. Especially Christmas time.

I don't mind them if I have a hand full of items, trolley or BIG items I use a person.

I like them. I agree with the job thing though. They're good for those times when I'm 'running in running out'.

I've seen people lining up at the self serve while the 15year old cashier at the next register stands there looking bored as a bat. I feel so sorry for them.
