We've had about 6 phone calls in the last week or so telling me they are from a security company and want to talk about the security of my computer blah blah blah. I'm guessing they are from India due to the accent so the opt out register is useless in this case. I've told them I have been in touch with the police and today I told them I don't have a computer (they hung up).
I've just had another call from them. What else can I do?

I've been getting the same calls. I've threatened with police too, yelled at them, told them I don't have a computer..some weeks I get them calling 3 or 4 days in a row then nothing for ages. Very frustrating!!!!

You know I'm over telemarketers that I have caller I'd and if I don't recognize the no I don't answer. Simple. I'm even considering getting rid of my home phone.

The ones pretending to be Microsoft and wanting to warn you that your computer security has been compromised are scammers. We've been getting a lot of them too.
There's nothing you can do short of screening your calls. Being scammers they don't care about the Do not call register and they give a bogus company name, or Microsoft (which is obviously not true). In our local paper there was a bit in the Crimewatch section warning people about these calls and advising to just hang up.
Its very irritating. Last time my DH laughed at them and said, "I know this is a scam, don't call again". They still call.

We've been getting them calling all the time, my partner pretends we're a Chinese restaurant or fish and chip shop and asks them what they want to order, they say they don't want to order any food and hang up. It works EVERY time! Hehehe

Www.donotcall.gov.au. You can sign up to and then the telemarketers are legally not allowed to call you. Takes about 2 weeks to take effect, but afterwards you will be cold-call free! It worked for us. I nearly cried for joy when I first found it.
