Has anyone done either of these and got a job using the qualification you obtained?

I completed my Diploma in Accounting last year and have an entry level job in Accounts Receivable. It was hard to get into, I applied for a lot of jobs before I got the one I'm in now. However even with a degree in Business/Commerce I would still be looking for that kind of work as I had no experience in the industry.

I did the cert III and am about to do the cert IV. I have been wondering if i'm wasting my time and should do something more practical?
I know someone who did the diploma and has a job in a/c receivable as well. I'm not sure how difficult it was for her to get the job though.
I was originally planning on doing the diploma but i'm really not sure now.

I am a bookkeeper and have a Diploma of Business Studies - Accounting.
I started in Accounts Payables many (many many...) years ago, worked my way into Receivables and finally Senior Accounts Manager - I have worked as Assistant Accountant and happily puddle around these days as a bookkeeper.
