Wow thanks for all the replies ladies!
Seems like it really varies.
I'm going to have a chat to my OB when I see him in 2 weeks and see what he advises.
I guess if I control what I eat and add in some light exercise then what will be will be!
Would be nice to stay under 5 kilo gain though lol.
Although last time I had bad fluid retention and lost 12 kilos in 1 week after having them.
I really wasn't healthy last time so want to be now to improve my chances of a successful VBAC.

I was 85kg when I fell pregnant with ds. Overweight for how tall I am but smallest I'd been for a long time.
I got up to 115kg full term. I was down to 105kg a month later but the rest took work. So I gained 20kg. I'll be song my best top ensure that doesn't happen next time .

With my dd I started a healthy weight of 61kg. At term I was 84kgs,so put on way too much.
This pregnancy I started at 78, at 20 weeks I had gained 1kg.

I was 115kg when I fell pregnant. Currently I am 18 weeks and I have lost 5kg. I have not had any morning sickness, I have put it down to eating healthier and smaller more frequent meals. I aim not to go above my pre-pregnancy weight.
P.s I didn't try to loose weight, it has just happened.

I lost around 10kgs with DS. Not sure what my weight gain is this time around (faulty scales!) but even though I've gone up 3 sizes, everyone keeps telling me I look like I haven't gained much

I'm due with my first in 8 weeks. The first midwife I saw gave me a nice serve about being 'obese' and all the health risks involved. Said I was not to gain more than 7kgs and that she was certain I would have GD.
Just did my GTT and no GD and have gained 6kgs so far.
Starting weight was 96kgs but I am also a weights junky at gym so I refuse to follow BMI's as it doesn't take into account your muscle content.
Good luck to everyone, I think the best thing is to eat healthy and do your best.

I started at 93kg. I went to 100kg in 42 weeks. That was having a 4.67kg baby too.
A week after I had her, I had the first chance to weigh myself. I had lost all of that 7kg and then another 7kg on top of it... so I had actually lost my own body weight during pregnancy and the 7kg I gained would have just been fluid/placenta/baby/etc.
My appetite was actually less than it was before pregnancy. I found that I was eating a lot healthier too because my sense of smell was so intense, and take-away and unhealthy foods generally smell really strongly, so I opted for non-smelly foods meaning lots of grilled meats and steamed veges, sandwiches and such.
I craved sausage rolls a lot, but that was really about it for junk.

brooke i had asked the same thing and no one could give me a real answer, but when I went to the hospy they have signs up indicated ideal weight gain based on BMI when falling pregnant.
My BMI is 40 (I think) and they said I should put on only between 5-9kg.
Im 21+1 and have lost 8kg.
What was ur BMI when you fall?

oh and the ob I saw at the hospy recommended no weight gain if your quite overweight. She said that maintinaing my weight throughout pregnancy when I am already overweight reduces the risks of a big baby back to 'normal' BMI starting weight.
