You can go now to get a blood test to confirm pregnancy. Also if you are going private you'll need a referral to a private hosp to book in (when I called around at 6 weeks they said if left it a bit late!)

    Congrats

Sme people go straight away as they want a blood test to get their hcg levels checked. I didnt bother with that, i just went at 6 weeks.

yes people usually go around that time. It is usually to confirm pregnany and Dr's usually like you to have a dating scan to get an idea of how far along you are. You may be certain of your dates but sometimes you can be further along or not as far along as you thought. Generally the 6-8 week mark is a good time to go

Hi Kazza, When I got mine, I ended up going in the same day to get bloods done. I remember my doctor telling me its a good idea to get them done early in case they're not sure of something later, they have a number to compare other results to, to make sure hcg is going up at the rate its meant to be. They also sent me for a scan to make sure it was implanted where it was meant to be (I was very early - 5 and a bit weeks). After that I was told to have another scan at the 7-8 week mark & more bloods then.

    Good luck & congratulations!!

When I got my BFP @ 5 weeks, I got my bloods done straight away to check my levels and make sure I was as far along as I thought I was. My doc didn't give me a dating scan, had to wait for our 12 week NT scan, which we just had and it was so worth the wait!! I'm not sure if all docs do it but mine only did 1 blood test on me, I didnt get other ones to see if my levels were rising.. I guess when you go to your doc they will let you know if you have to have multiple tests or if they are happy with just one..

    Congrats!!
