The NSW govt is reviewing the "Blue Book" that is issued to every infant when they leave the maternity ward.
The Reflux Infants Support Association is arguing that children should be screened at the various 6wk, 12wk and 6mth checks for infant reflux on the grounds that it affects 10 - 20% of babies, there is increasing evidence that this is a condition that may affect this population for life, that around 90% of premmies are affected and that the quality of life for families caring for an infant with reflux is extremely difficult. Exhausted mothers are often misdiagnosed with PND.
Frighteningly the list of risk factors for Shaken Baby Syndrome also read like a symptom list for reflux.
Please consider taking part in this short survey and calling for screening or infants for reflux disease.

That is fantastic! I hope it happens! I'm in SA. Is there any way this same push can be made in the other states and territories?
