Default Tax time. What to claim for

As I'm aware I can claim for school supplies?
Does this include computers? Uniforms? Lunch boxes?
What about iPod touch for education?
What some other things to claim for??

I'm not sure the claims are still relevant now families are receiving the bonuses... That $400 payment. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding.

If you're not eligible for the bonus can you still claim on tax? Or is it only those on FTA payments?

If you aren't eligible for the new Schoolkids Bonus then you wouldn't have been eligible for the Education Tax Refund. As far as I know you have to be receiving FTB part A. (Or have lodged a claim and be eligible and receive it as a limit sum at reconciliation after tax)

The Schoolkids bonus replaces the Education Tax Refund for the 2011-2012 financial year.

You can still claim as normal this year even though some people will get the supplement. This is what I was told anyway

It doesn't look like it. http://www.educationtaxrefund.gov.au/
That says you can still claim for 2010-2011 or earlier if you are eligible. It also says to contact centrelink to see if you are eligible if you don't receive the payment in June. Then it has this link for more info http://www.families.fahcsia.gov.au/o...hoolkids-bonus

The Education Tax Refund was paid as a direct payment to eligible families for 2011-12. This means you don’t claim it through your 2011-12 tax return, or have to keep receipts.

This is part of the transition to the new Schoolkids Bonus.

Just like the Education Tax Refund, eligibility for these payments is linked to Family Tax Benefit Part A.

Families who don’t receive FTB Part A may also receive the payment if they receive one of the following payments for a primary or secondary student:
    • Youth Allowance (student)
    • Disability Support Pension
    • ABSTUDY Living Allowance
    • education allowances under the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme and Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme.
    For more info visit humanservices.gov.au/schoolkidsbonus.
