As much as I find physical punishment disconcerting, I think it's worse that it's the senior STUDENTS punishing them, rather than the teachers/principal.

There was a story on a current affair about a school like this before in aus.. of course they painted it as a fantastic idea. Good old fashioned discipline

I'm thinking that is how they are getting around the no corporal punishment rules - as long as these senior students are undet 18.

That is sick... Almost like a lord of the flies type society. Students inflicting pain on other students?
A psychologist and police need to get to that school ASAP.
I'd be just as upset if it were my child dishing out the punishment... Sure fire way to really fu[K them up for the outside world...

That has to be illegal, surely. Washing mouths out with soap is actually dangerous. There are some nasty ingredients in there and I've read about all manner of nasty consequences to kids from it.

Surely, you can't give permission for your child to be harmed? What about dv cases - if one parent gives the other permission to assault a child that doesn't make it legal!

That poor child. That is so wrong.

I have no objections in sending my child to a school that has corporal punishment but only to be handed out by the administrative staff ie principal, vp etc.
