    I love the book idea. I used to buy little presents 'for' my son on special occasions so I would just be so happy if someone did that for him!

    Guess it depends on what your friend is like? I had a friend buy our son a birthday card & they wrote it out to him from them & it was just so lovely of them I'll never forget it

    I'd give her something FOR HER to let her know you're aware that it's a tough time of year (probably) and that you're thinking of her. I wouldn't be buying something for a baby that didn't survive... that could possibly be a bad idea, and given you have no idea how she'll take it, I don't think it's safe.

    I know the original post has gone, but for my bestie's stillborn son I got her this http://namesinthesand.blogspot.com.au/ and framed it. She put it up on his shelf with his certificates and photos. This year we're getting a star named after him.

    I think she'll be appreciative if you acknowledge the birthday in some way.
