What are you supposed to do? We were out today and there was a car in front of us whose driver was obviously drunk (driving very slow, swerving, driving down the middle of the road, etc). I took the licence plate down but I didn't know who to call (DF was driving). I didn't want to phone 000 but what's the right thing to do? I didn't end up doing anything but I still have the rego number.

I've been googling but I can't find anything.
I want to put the phone number to call in my mobile in case it happens again.

I think you should call 000 (in Victoria anyway). I have been told before by local police that they try to catch the driver in the act so of you call 000 they put out a general call for that rego and try to pull them over on that journey

Local police, or 131940 might take details.

I would call 000. The closest available cop car may not necessarily be from the local cop shop. Plus I would deem it an emergency.

Yes, you call 000 and let them know the registration and location. You follow them (at a safe distance) and relay any changes to route to the operator. A police car will be sent to pull the car over (I used to work in criminal Defence as we had quite a few clients caught this way).
