Just wondering what it cost you for the combined bloods screening test for downs syndrome?
I had the blood test today and was told to pay $20 upfront for 'handling charges' pretty much to get it from my GP to Royal Childrens.
Then she told me i will be sent a bill for the actual 'test' which she 'believes' is under $50. That's fine but how and where do i pay for the 'test' when they send me a bill? and what medicare rebate would i get?
The ultrasound is costing me $109 with half rebate from medicare.
I dont mind about paying to have these voluntry tests done, im just trying to sort out my finances atm![]()

My bloods were free. The scan cost me $100 but I got $95 back from Medicare as I was over the safety net.

HI
If you are in Melbourne, they send you a bill, you can pay by CC, cheque or at either the Women's or Children's hospitals but not BPay. I paid for both blood test and scan but medicare gave me some back for each, cant remember the exact amounts though. I think it was something like $150 and I got $50 back, but Im going private so it always costs more!

I'm in melbourne and for the downs syndrome bloods I had to pay $180 as I had a referral to go through melbourne pathology or whatever something similar to that anyway as apparently they didnt do the downs syndrome testing at the hospital not sure why its only bloods (i know they dont do the scan at the hospital im at) so that kinda sucked because they didnt tell me until I sat down for the needle lol.
