Sorry if there are already threads like this!
my baby shower is coming up and I've had people ask if I have a wish list. The thing is, thanks to over excited grandparents/aunties to be our little girl already has very thing I'd consider to be necessary?
What were you given that you'd never thought of but then couldn't live without?

Congrats on your little girl! Things I found useful that were a little out of the ordinary were a packet of cloth nappies (to use as a cloth vomit catchers etc), grobag for 6- 12 month old once I had finished wrapping (summer weight for your bub), night light (a small one that plugs into the wall), hats, books- they really are babies for such a short time, I would suggest that people buy you things that suit a 6-12 month old. All the best.

You can never have enough 'useables'. Meaning nappies (even in the next few sizes), wipes(specify brand), baby wash (specify brand), laundry liquid and softener (specify brand- a baby hypoallergenic one), other laundry stuff like pegs, maybe a washing frame for indoors for the little baby clothes, baby socks in several sizes, washers. Also something nice for the mummy like a facial/ pedicure / manicure voucher

I agree with practical things - nappies, wipes, washing powder, soaking bucket, extra washing basket, washing trolley to put basket in - if you have a c-section makes it easier to move washing or depending on your delivery you may not want to constantly bend.
If people were happy to buy gift cards for coles/woolworths or a nappy place. You will be buying them for a while but may not want 50 boxes of nappies in the house. You usually have 12months to use them. Even if money gets used on groceries you still have to pay for nappies and other baby care items eventually.

- Night light (check out Little Night Delights - awesome range of fantastic night lights)
- def a pack of cloth nappies for spew cloths
- singlets suit things that clip together for bub to wear under clothes.. They are great so they don't ride up
- bibs.. Seriously I go through about 10 a day lol
- fess little noses and eukybear rub (sooooo useful if and when bub gets a stuffy nose)
- a towel material bath seat thing (obviously I have no idea what it's called) but its something for bub to lay on in bath.. It's awesome!!
These are just the things I've found the most useful in the first 11 weeks anyway!
Congrtulations and Best of luck with your new bub!

We ended up using face washers for chuck clothes - we ended up buying so many.
If you're planning on swaddling, you could ask for an ergo pouch (zip up swaddle wrap) that bubs can't get out of. I only used normal wraps for number 1, and he always used to escape then wake himself up so am getting these for #2.
Even if you're planning on breast feeding, I found a breast pump super helpful - intially when bubs was in neonates for 3 weeks, then even after for expressing for teh occasional daddy feeds.
And of course, I agree with what the others said - nappies, bum wipes etc.
It's definitely worthwhile asking for some larger sizes of things - up to 00s (and maybe even 0s) would be good as they grow sooo fast at first.
Good luck and congratulations!!
