Default Eternity ring - do you have one and is it traditional?

I'm dropping hints to DH about an eternity ring, but I don't really want a traditional band that sits with my wedding rings. I'd actually prefer a nice ring to wear on my right hand.

Does that even count as an eternity ring?

So do you have one? I also think it's interesting that people have such different ideas about when it's traditional to give one too.

I have one it's a band of diamonds that go all the way around and I wear it with my wedding and engagement rings. I used to wear it on the other hand when pregnant as all three woulent fit and I dont think it matters which hand you wear it on, it's the significance which matters I got mine on our one year wedding anniversary.

I don't have one yet but have put my order in. I've always been told that you get your eternity ring after the first year of marriage or first baby. Our baby was born before we got married so it will have to be for our first year of marriage. I'll be interested to hear other traditions though.

I don't think it matters what it looks like or which hand you wear it. A lot of people don't even get an eternity ring these days or use the traditional eternity ring (stones all the war around) as their wedding band. I'm opting for a non traditional ring that with decent size and quality stones. I even got a cheaper wedding band so I could do it

I have a ring that I wear on my right hand, don't think it's an eternity ring but I love it. Df got it as a "push present" when I had ds3. It has 3 bigger square diamonds, one for each of my boys, and three small ones on either side.

He didn't want traditional eternity either. He went in and asked for a ring with three stones and chose from there. He thought of it all on his own. Makes me fuzzy as he NEVER does stuff like that

I thought eternity rings were supposed to be for 10 years of marriage?
I got given a maternity ring for ds, it's got a blue stone in it and I wear out on my right hand. I might just get dh to upgrade out when we have the next one as I can only wear for rings on two fingers at a time at work and I'd like to have an eternity ring eventually.

I love the idea of the 3 stones, as I'm currently pregnant with my third. What a lovely thing for your DH to do mmy2b. My DH is unlikely to do that... he's always nervous I won't like what he picks, which is strange seeing as though whenever he does, I love it!

I've heard eternity rings for 1 year, after first baby, 10 years. My mum got hers at 30 years!

I don't have one yet, we went looking the other week but I couldn't find anything I liked and dh wants to get a nice one. We were looking at one to go with engagement and wedding bands, but it's hard to find a nice white gold one.
I like the idea of one for my right hand though

I always thought eternity rings were for 10 years.

One year hardly seems like an eternity, although maybe in some marriages it does

Yes I have a separate rung I wear in my right as I didn't want another ring on my left. I don't tend to think of it as an eternity ring but asked for it instead
