Baby will be covered if there are any complications with the baby.

It'll be a similar cost through public, but they can't refuse her care and will most likely bill her for the care after the birth, she can pay that off using her baby bonus payments if she organizes it with the hospital.

I don't know if this will help but:

When we went for my antenatal appointment they had a thing stuck to the window with costs for people without Medicare. I can't remember the exact figure but a normal vaginal birth with no complications was something like $5000 (give or take a few hundred, we were just amazed at the costs) and then there was a list of extras like if they have to call in the needle dude. The visit to their doctors without Medicare was like 150 bucks anyway so the price went up.

Lol yeah, I'd be avoiding an epi if I could, that's like $1,750 right there or something. You also get charged for each night you're in there.

It's a cruddy circumstance, but at least she can have baby and pay it off with her baby bonus.

Yep, if he's on the BC and she provides a copy of his passport to Medicare.

The Mater Mothers in Brisbane is about $1500 a night for patients without Medicare. This is only for your room. OB/Birthing/CS are extra. The bub should def be covered as it will be a citizen due to Dad being Australian.

I don't think she will be the drug free birth type :|
I'm quite sure she will be the one to be screaming the place down for an epidural.
