I love costume parties! It gives everyone something to talk about and I would much rather put the effort into thinking about a great costume than trying to find something suitable to wear in my wardrobe and worry that I won't be dressed appropriately.
My favourite was a superhero party I went to when I was in my early 20s - my Mum made me a "She-ra princess of power" costume (remember She-ra and He-Man?) and I had a sword fight with braveheart and it was just hilarious and so much more fun than just standing around making awkward small talk.
