    Default Pronouncing Sara

Last night we were discussing names for the baby, and we have one that we really like. The only issue is that my partner believes it wont be pronounced correctly (or the way we want). So I guess this is another name pronunciation thread...

How would you pronounce the name

    Sara.

    Thanks.

I've had friends spelled Sara- and have been pronounced Saara and Sarah. Am sure which ever pronunciation you want you'll find that it gets muddled! But I love the name- never mind a few mispronunciations!

I'm a Sara and it rhymes with Cara, Tara, Mara etc.

If people see it written though I get Sarah. Hate it.

Sara is a family name in my family. We pronounce it like Sarah, not rhyming with Lara. It is one of those names that can be either. If you don't care how you spell it and don't want to have to correct spelling an pronounciation use Sara for the name rhyming with Lara and Sarah for those like Sarah Jessica Parker.

I'd pronounce it to rhyme with Tara, Lara etc.
That said, there are plenty of Saras around with the same pronunciation as Sarah...so you'd probably get that reasonably often.
