    Default Mirena Removal

Hi there, Im having my Mirena removed due to excessive hair loss and it is due to be removed as its 5 years now. I have had minimal issues with it over the 5 years but now hair loss. I am wondering if anyone can explain the process of its removal? Did it hurt, bleeding, pain ect? I have work after i get it removed and wondered if i should perhaps take a day off? Thanks.

Mine didn't hurt at all to get removed. They just need to give a little tug on the strings and it comes out. The strings had curled up inside my uterus so the used ultrasound to find it and some surgical tweezers to grab it out. Even with all that, it didn't hurt in the slightest! I had no bleeding at all either.

when I had mine removed the doctor told me to cough. I kept coughing and waiting for the pain but she told me to stop, it came out with the first cough. I felt absolutely nothing whatsoever!

No pain for me either, a tiny spot of blood when I wiped the next time I went to the toilet. It was very easy.

My first mirena which was inserted and removed prior to having any children hurt like a ******* to remove. A really sharp stabbing pain, and then I had cramping and light bleeding on the day of the removal.

My second mirena which was removed after having one child came out with no pain or bleeding and cramping at all.

I have had 2 mirenas put in within 3 weeks lol. but when i had to have the first one out it was painless they just put the speculum thing in like a pap smear and then pull it out. didn't feel it at all i had lots of bleeding afterwards but i think it was because i was due for a period anyway.

Thanks for you replies. I had no issues and felt no pain and my period came back after a few weeks.
