(Apologies if that has been done before)
I was thinking of giving up my wines (oh, how I love my wines) during my IVF cycle. Does anyone/everyone do this? What's the usual advice?

Drinking during cycle

Think it's a personal choice. I didn't drink during my IVF cycles or during my pregnancies but everyone's different.

I give up all alcohol 3 months before a fresh stim and from CD 1 for FET cycles.

i would give it up as it can affect a number of things physiologically. I gave it up just before my cycle and started my vitamins before hand as well.

I haven't given it up.
I did, for some of the FSH/ IUI cycles I did prior to IVF, but have since decided not to.
I've been TTC for 13mths now. Probably my biggest challenge throughout the TTC process is stress. I am finding it very stressful, and emotionally challenging.
I have always enjoyed wine, and found it relaxing and something that makes me smile. I'm not talking about getting drunk - just a few glasses here or there.
My FS has always said that he is fine with drinking in moderation throughout fertility treatment/ IVF. I have spoken to other specialists about this who agree. I saw an IVF psychologist, who said "We're a big advocate for the odd glass of wine in this clinic!" (different clinic from my usual one), and her reason was that it can help patients to relax, enjoy life, and feel normal.
I've done quite a bit of my own research on it (although, of course, I am not a specialist) and found no studies that conclusively link low to moderate alcohol consumption with lowered chances of conception. As you might expect, several link high consumption. I even found some that linked low wine intake with improved chances! (I liked those ones...)
So, my own research, along with talking to different fertility specialists, makes me feel that the benefits of the odd glass of wine for me outweigh any negatives.
I hate to cite anecdotal evidence, but the month that I conceived DD (through Clomid), was a month when I actually had quite a bit more to drink than usual, due to events at that time, and being convinced that it wasn't possible to get pregnant at that time. I'm not for a second advocating drinking for that reason, but it also reassures me that alcohol does not equal it not working.
Those are my reasons anyway. I think we each have to do what we feel is right.

I drank through cycling. The odd wine here and there. I am now 7 1/2 weeks pregnant. I didnt drink from ET onwards.
The choice is yours! You still have to live and as far as I'm concerned, you stress so much about this whole process, if a glass relaxes you, go for it.

I agree with jaebyrd, ivf is stressful so if a glass of epwine relaxes u then go for it.
I spent 1 year going totally organic, giving up all alcohol and caffeine and it didn't do a thing! all I did was miss out on the things I enjoyed for 12 months. Maybe for some people it works but for me it didn't.
I also had a glass or 2 a few nights a week during cycling but stopped when I had et. Now I'm 7 weeks into my pregnancy and can't stomach the thought of alcohol or anything with flavor actually

I had a couple of beers while I was on FSH. I spoke to my FS and she said anything up until ET was fine. I would love a bottle, yes a bottle, of wine right now. Damn you tww!! :P
