    Default Stitches question

I received 5 stitches tuesday after slicing the top of my thumb almost clean off... Anyways the dic said to not get it wet initially but I can't remember if he said never to get it wet, I want to have a shower and take the dressing off. It's not infected but it is throbbing and very sore. Can I take the dressing off to have a shower?

I had a shower and kept a plastic bag over it Tuesday/weds but I found it a pain !

I had 7 stitches in my hand not too long ago and I just kept my hand semi out of the water in the shower. I think the shower would be ok though as its not being soaked. But I have no medical expertise lol

The doc also said to Take the dressing off after 24 hours and leave it after that. But completely different injury I guess.
