Default Small, cheap laptop/notebook for Tafe/uni

Any recommendations? I'm wanting to spend under $500 and something small and light.

If you have a stand alone **** smiths see if they are going out of business they are have a huge sale. If not I could try to grab one and if you wanted to pay shipping and repay me the cost I could pick one up for you and send it your way.

**** Smiths aren't going out of business. Woolies is just seperating themselves from them.

I think you won't have any issues getting a computer for under $500. Harvey Norman just had an ad on tv. They have laptops for $398 i think it was.
Personally i would stay away from all of the big companies when buying a computer. You seem to get better deals from actual computer shops. They can build computers or change certain things to suit your needs.

I got a free acer netbook from dodo when I signed up to their wireless internet. I use it to write all my uni assignments and its really great and compact on the train.

I saw today in the paper that Coles has a couple for under $500, remembered this as i thought it was something new for them to sell and from memory it was an ok brand.

I bought an asus from **** Smith for $350ish a few months ago. It's 2gb so it's faster than most netbooks and it's battery life is around 7-8 hours. I love it

From what I was told they were shutting down the stand alone stores and keeping the smaller stores

What about this one? It's small and cheap not sure about what it's supposed to have in it though.
