    Just a couple to add:

    Smart wiring throughout
    Floor coverings - tiles are easy maintenance but very cold underfoot.
    Powerpoints on the OUTSIDE of the house!!!!

    Also consider your bedroom placement. Where is the master bed in relation to the kids rooms etc...do you want to be walking through a dark house (or up/down stairs) to get to the nursery??? Consider a bedroom and full bathroom downstairs (or able to be closed off) in case you have parents moving in if you need to care for them etc.

    I will never, ever get tiles in a house (apart from bathroom and laundry) again. So so soooo cold!!

    Yep, we have a lot of tiles in the house we're renting and it makes it freezing. Getting wood floors in the house we'll be building

    Great topic! Choose floor coverings that are easy to clean, shiny white tiles are not!

    Hahaha I told my husband this!! But alas I didn't win the debate .... Shiny white tiles we have.... On a acreage with houses and development going around us..... Ahhh the joys lol
