Yeh I understand that, I guess I mean, will I be able to claim it against this years taxable income, or will I be better off waiting till next year so (given I find employement in the area) I can claim it on next years income?

What is the course cost? Will it make a huge impact on current/future finances? I would weigh up these things along with things like you mentioned about it being more convenient now etc.
