Dd1 who is 5 started dance class a couple of weeks ago after switching from tumbling which she had been doing since 3 to catch up a gross motor delay. Anyway this week the teacher has asked if we could bring her to a 2nd class per week as she is showing promise ( a big surprise to me!). I'm just not sure if it's to much she is only 5 and at preschool full-time. Is it normal for dance to have more then 1 class per week? Apparently this 2nd class is an exam ballet class where in her current class she does a bit of everything.

If she wants to do it, and has no other after school activities, I say let her do it.
Seems pretty normal to me. We always said 2 after school activities for our DD was enough until she is round 7-8, then we will add a couple more possibly.

As long as it's not 2 days in a row I would say it shouldn't be a problem. But remember when she starts school she may find it a bit much at first especially if they are both week days.
No different to when my twins were little and they did a swimming lesson plus a gymnastics class.

Go for it and see how she goes, you can never have too much exercise
My 5 year old does tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and swimming lessons most days

My DD does one dance lesson (she is 5), but I would happily send her to two if she wanted to!

Thanks for that. She really seems to be enjoying dance so she has been going to both classes. Luckily 1 on sat.

If your daughter is fine with it I don't see a problem. My DD is 5 and does 2 Classes on a Saturday morning. She does 1 hour of jazz/tap and 45 mins of ballet and she is fine with that!

My DD is 9 now and does 3 dance classes a week, one jazz, one hip hop and one contemporary PLUS a swimming lesson each week.
She's been dancing for 5 year now and started doing 2 classes a week at around 5, if she's happy too then why not at least see how she goes? My DD loves her dancing even though it now imposing on her weekends.
