    Default Happy Anzac Day???

    Today I heard someone say "happy anzac day", and give the person a hug- like a nice to see you catch up hug not like a consoling hug, (at a rsl after the dawn service).

    Is the term Happy Anzac day cool with you?

    I think its bogus JMO!

    Yeah I have heard it too, and personally find it in poor taste.

    It's meant to be a day for remembrance not celebration. I think some people don't necessarily realise this.

    Often I'd hear "have a good Anzac day" said between servicemen or veterans at dawn service or after the march. I have no problem with that. I cringe at happy Anzac day. So so disrespectful.

    I dont like it at all .. its not a day to be happy - its a day to be thankful, a very different thing.

    Its a day to reflect, to remember and to appreciate the sacrifices that others have made to ensure our country (and other countries) remains safe.

    I find today to be quite tearful and sad tbh, its not a day of happiness???

    I dispise this, ANZAC day is a way for peoplelike my dh husband to remember his fallen mates that did not make it home. It is not a happy day but a day that he endures. It would be like saying Happy funeral.

    I think it's a bit odd, but honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. FIL travelled down to Syd to attend a damn service them get p*ssed with all his old mates from the unit he was in years ago. He's in the Army and has been deployed several times.

    I suspect it's probably a happy day for him.
