Haven't had CVS but did have amnio.. It wasn't really painfull.. of course the local had a bit of sting but nothing to worry about... it was more the funny feeling when the needle penetrated the sac.. not painful just weird.. when they started sucking the fluid though it was uncomfortable.. We paid teh extra to get the FISH results back early and had them about 36 hours after the test. : )

Yes, my experience of CVS hurt a lot. I had no local anasethic and when the needle went through my uterus, it hurt. I didn't cry when it happened, but as soon as I left the specialists office, I bawled my eyes out. It took 24 hours for 90% of the result to come back and 2 weeks for full results. Make sure u see a specialist in this area, as your chances for miscarriage are reduced if u see a specialist that works in this area. Do u live in sydney? I so, I can recommend one for you. Good luck.

I have had one of each- I prefer CVS- you can have it done earlier. It is very quick. It didn't hurt, but felt weird. I had tightness across my stomach afterwards, which I understand is normal. I had my fast FISH results so knew everything was ok by 12 weeks. I agree with other posters- make sure you get a recommendation for a very good Dr to perform the procedure.
