but I know this depends on where you were raised...

MIL says 'fil-um' for film and it drives me INSANE!
Most of my family say fil-um (Scottish). A lot of them also pronounce the letter J as "jai" ( as in rhyming with eye). Weirdos.

Its Haitch. My name is Hannah. If it was Aitch then people would pronounce my name Anna, which is not my name.
You cant say that a letter is not pronounced with the sound that it makes? That would deffinetely confuse a kid.

Each letter has a spelling, and the spelling for 'H' is 'aitch'.

If you think about it, your name is not pronounced "Haitch-anna", and more than it is "Aitch-anna".

Another example would be that, just as 'H' isn't pronounced 'Haitch', 'N' isn't pronounced "Nen", and someone called 'Naomi' doesn't pronounce it "En-aomi".

What about C- see, it makes a c (as in c-ough) sound but is spelled without the letter c in its phonetic alphabet.

    Also:
    G- Jee
    I- eye
    Q- kew
    W- double u
    X- eks
