Isnt that part of freedom of speech? They have a right to speak against it as others have a right to speak for it. (not a dig, a genuine question)

I referred to this website in a thread that closed down recently after seeing it on a signature in here.

Reading some of the site and this creed in particular did change my thinking....I realised that I am in fact a feminist!

No. That's why we have racial vilification laws, it's why we have gender/sexual orientation discrimination laws.

Do what you like in your own house (as long as all consent) but if you spew hate speech? Then your freedom of speech is denied, Ba Bow!

I know what you are saying, and I honestly wonder that same thing. But if we have unlimited freedom of speech then we can say horrible racist and prejudiced things about anyone. Indigenous people should go back to being our slaves because they are beneath us, homosexuality is wrong and they need to change, women are men's objects and should submit whenever they want, women who are raped clearly were asking for it. None of these things should be said, but because of freedom of speech they have every right to say it? That doesn't sit well with me.

If someone linked a creed from some sort of 'Breast is best' site, would 4 pages of harsh disapproving comments be ok? I know the OP asked for opinions and thats what everyone is giving...Im just wondering if this is a thread designed to band together over a joint dislike of something, masked as a 'What Do You Think' thread.

    Just a thought.
I think that assuming this thread was created with ulterior motives (to band together, as you stated) is looking into it too deeply. The OP didn't know who would respond or what the comments would entail. It wasn't 'designed' for a specific purpose as far as I can see.

The fact that so many people disagree is neither here nor there. You can't dictate the general consensus of bubhub threads. The majority of people disagree with the creed in the OP and are adding their comments as to why - yeah, I think that's fair.

London - on one level I see your point but this isn't an online group for avid crocheters. It's a group that sets about to ruin and tear down feminism and imo human rights. In your example, if I saw a bfing creed stating that fomula feeders had ruined parenting and to join the fight to remove them and their right to bottle feed, yep I would say something.

This is very true too. We only have an 'implied freedom of speech' in Australia
